So your man now has a real job, and a real apartment with real furniture, and a wardrobe that includes buttons. When you see him from across the room you think “hey, that hot guy of mine has got it all together.” Then you are with him running errands on a Saturday and he says he needs to stop at Super Cuts for a quick haircut. What? It’s time for an intervention—here’s how to get your guy to up his game and hit a real salon.
EXCUSE: MY HAIRCUT ONLY COSTS $15
Yes, sweetheart, that is true, but how often do you have to go? Most guys will need to go for a haircut or touch up/neck trim every 3 weeks. Most high end salons will give free neck trims in between haircuts so if you do the math it’s going to work out pretty even.
EXCUSE: MY BARGAIN PLACE IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER
This is not really a valid excuse since there is sure to be a talented stylist at a high end salon right around the corner as well. The benefit of going to a higher end salon is that your guy will also continue to see the same stylist and his style will be tailored to him. That weird cowlick that on occasion gets highlighted rather than camouflaged at the cheap cuts salon? A regular stylist will learn the intricacies of his head and will be sure to cut his hair accordingly. FYI- this will also give him a little extra time between cuts.
EXCUSE: I NEED TO GET IN LAST MINUTE
You can usually get a last minute appointment, but the truth is most people will go to get a haircut at pretty regular intervals if you pay attention to when he is actually going. Scheduling your appointment on your way out of the salon as you are paying is not a big hassle, changing your appointment is not generally an issue if you call 24 hrs ahead.
EXCUSE: MY HAIR LOOKS FINE
It may look “fine” but there is definitely always room for improvement. When you go to a cheap cuts salon they will have a cookie cutter approach to haircuts. As students finish beauty school they are taught the basics of haircutting and then are sent out on their own to find jobs. When you go a higher end salon the stylists usually have to do a long term internship under an experienced stylist before they are allowed to do their own cuts. They also focus on continuing education and advanced cutting classes and will be up on the latest trends and creative techniques that will give you the most current custom cut. Your guy also needs to be reminded that your hair is the accessory that you wear every day and that being put together helps on the business front.
EXCUSE: SUPER CUTS IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE SPORTS BAR, I LIKE TO GET A BEER AFTER
Another thing about getting your hair cut in a high end salon, that you already know, is the more luxurious atmosphere. Along with the product recommendations that will keep him looking sharp every day, the knowledgeable stylist giving you a custom look, many times you can get a beer while you are sitting in the chair.
Out of excuses yet? Schedule him an appointment with your stylist and watch his hotness dial up a few notches.
